Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Dixie National Forest in southern Utah covers almost two million acres stretching about 170 miles of the divide between the Great Basin and the Colorado River. This diverse area ranges from about 2,800 feet to 11,322 feet on Boulder Mountain. With those elevation extremes also come climatic changes where precipitation ranges from 10 inches in the lower elevations to more than 40 inches per year and temperatures ranging from more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer to winter lows exceeding -30 degrees Fahrenheit on the plateau tops.
