Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Built in the 1840s, this Greek Revival-style house was the home of Doctor Jefferson Polk, whom, as the town doctor, cared for the wounded and dying after the Battle of Perryville in 1862. The house features a side gable roof, large brick chimneys on the side facades, a four-bay front facade with two doorways in the center flanked by two-over-two double-hung windows, and second-floor windows flanking the chimneys on the side facades. The house is a contributing structure in the Perryville Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
