Description
Deutsch: Dornier Do 17 Z-2/Z-3, 7./KG 3 "Blitz-Geschwader". Die Kennzeichen der 7. Staffel des KG 3 lauten bei einer Sollstärke von 12 Flugzeugen pro Staffel: "5K+AR" bis "5K+NR", wobei die Individual-Kennbuchstaben I und J (innerhalb A bis N) i.d.R. keine Verwendung fanden. Die Individual-Kennbuchstaben A bis N waren i.d.R. in den Staffelfarben "Weiss" für 1. Staffel, "Rot" für 2. Staffel und "Gelb" für 3. Staffel jeweils innerhalb der I. bis III. Gruppe eines Kampfgeschwaders ausgeführt. Die III. Gruppe (= 7. bis 9. Staffel) des KG 3 war vom Okt. 1939 bis Juni 1940 in Würzburg-Galgenberg stationiert. Ab Nov. 1941 (bis Mai 1942) erfolgte in Gütersloh die Umrüstung der III. Gruppe auf die Junkers Ju 88 A-5/A-4 mit einer geschätzten Sollstärke von 36 Staffelflugzeugen und 3-4 Maschinen des Stabsschwarms der III./KG3.

Die I.Gruppe des KG 2 "Holzhammer-Geschwader" war vom 23. Februar bis 22. März 1940, und vom 23. April bis zum 10. Mai 1940 in Giebelstadt mit der Do 17 Z stationiert. Die vorhergehende Ausführung "M" besaß noch nicht die verglaste Vollsicht-Bugkanzel der "Z" Variante der Dornier Do 17, jedoch verfügten beide Typen bereits über die neuen Bramo 323 A "Fafnir" Neunzylinder-Sternmotoren. Es folgte die I./KG 76 mit Do 17 Z-2/Z-3 von Okt. 1940 bis März 1941. Die Umrüstung der I./KG 76 auf die neue Junkers Ju 88 A-1/A-5, sowie die Einschulung der Flugzeugführer, Beobachter, Bordfunker, Bord- u. Flugzeugmechaniker erfolgte sehr wahrscheinlich bis Ende März 1941 ebenfalls in Giebelstadt.
