Dossier du trône royal. Le Roi en compagnie de son épouse Ankhesenamon Le trône doré est le meuble le plus remarquable qui nous soit parvenu de l'Egypte antique. Il est en bois, recouvert d'une feuille d'or incrustée de pierres précieuses, de pâtes de verre et de faïence. Le décor du trône montre Ankhesenamon en train d'enduire le corps de Toutankhamon d'un onguent, les royons du soleil terminés par des signes de vie sont caractéristiques de l'époque amarnienne. La tombe de Toutankhamon (1340-1331 AV. J.C.) a été découverte par Howard Carter en novembre 1922. Le pharaon est mort à 19 ans, sa momie se trouvait dans un cercueil en or massif, placé à l'intérieur de 2 cercueils en bois. Ces 3 cercueils étaient dans un sarcophage de quartzite à couvercle de granit rouge.
