Summary

[edit]
Description A U.S. Navy Douglas AD-6 Skyraider refueling the second production Douglas A4D-1 Skyhawk (BuNo 137814), circa 1955-56. Note that the experimental inflight refuelling probe has been attached to the starboard wing and the pilot having missed the chute, probably due to bad vision. On the standard A4D-2 the probe was attached to the fuselage and was lengthened. The A4D-1 137814 is today mounted on a pole in the center of a roundabout at the Naval Air Weapons Center China Lake, California (USA).
