Description The Douglas XA3D-1 Skywarrior (BuNo 125412) on first flight over Edwards Air Force Base, California (USA), on 28 October 1952. Note the Westinghouse engines. Douglas began to design the aircraft in 1949. Another XA3D-1, BuNo 125413, was built. The Skywarrior entered service in March 1956, in 1962 the A3D was redesignated A-3.
