Summary[edit]

Description The surface building (immediately recognisable by the GNP&BR "bull's blood" tilework designed by Leslie Green) of Down Street station on the Piccadilly line, which closed in 1932. You can see why, as it's hardly any distance from Green Park and Hyde Park Corner on each side and set back off Piccadilly down a narrow street. During WWII the Railway Executive had its headquarters in the disused underground parts of the station, and it was also regularly used by Churchill for cabinet meetings. Subterranea Britannica have a picture of what the station looked like when open here.
