Summary
[edit]DescriptionDr. Paulette A. Bethel at Ministerial Breakfast Roundtable on Future of Education.jpg | Each year the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) hosts an Annual Ministerial Review (AMR) where Government Ministers look at the progress countries are making toward reaching internationally agreed development goals (IADG), including the Millennium Development Goals. This year’s theme is Education. UNICEF, UNFPA, and ECOSOC teamed up to ensure that the voice of young people also continues to be part of this important dialogue. Young people from around the world were invited to contribute their ideas through a Facebook discussion page. Seven participants were chosen to speak directly to the ECOSOC Ministers via teleconference at a July 7 meeting. The meeting was opened by Ambassador Frederick Barton, U.S. Vice Ambassador to ECOSOC and Dr. Paulette A. Bethel, Ambassador of the Bahamas to the United Nations. |
