Dr. Wil Heins (Padang, 24 juni 1932 - Rotterdam 1 juli 2014 [1]) was een wiskundige en wetenschappelijk medewerker aan de TU Delft, en kenner van de internationale kunstbeweging COBRA. [2], [6]

Wil Heins was geboren in Padang in Nederlands-Indië. Hij studeerde aan de Technische Universiteit Delft, waar hij in 1960 zijn propedeuse voor natuurkundig ingenieur behaalde. [3] In 1965 behaalde hij aldaar zijn ingenieursdiploma. [4] Later in de jaren 1970 was hij gepromoveerd in de wiskunde.

Eind jaren 1960 was Wil Heins zijn academische loopbaan begonnen bij de afdeling elektrotechniek van de Technische Hogeschool Delft. [5] Later ging hij naar de afdeling wiskunde, waar hij werkte onder prof. H.J.M. Lombaerts, hoogleraar Operations research. Na zijn emeritaat in 1985 werkte hij verder onder zijn opvolger Joop Evers.
