Берендейка и пороховница

Название берендейки образовано от слова Bandelier, которым обозначалась мушкетная перевязь с зарядами, натруской и мешочком с пулями и пыжами. В описях снаряда немецких мушкетерских полков берендейки и назывались бенделерами.

В Военном уставе 1647 г. под заглавием: «Учение и хитрость ратнаго строения пехотных людей» при описании вооружения мушкетеров упоминается о мушкетных перевязях, или банделерах: «...перевязям доведется были на три или на четыре перста шириною, а на ней одиннадцать зарядцев... Да у бенделера, сиречь у перевяза, быти коженому мешечку, во что пульки и сало и пыжи и иное издобие, чем мушкет чистить, класти...»

В 95-й главе описной книги 1687 г. значится:

«Двадцать банделеров мушкетных».

«Да на дворе Боярина Никиты Ивановича Романова, сверх прежних переписных книг: пятдесят ремней с банделеры, цена по три алтына, по две деньги, итого пять рублей».

Восемь сот бенделеров без ремней, цена по три алтына по две деньги за сто... Из этого видно, что в описи собственно бенделерами называются привешивающиеся на ремнях зарядные деревянные точеные трубочки с крышками, обтянутые кожей. То же самое значение имеют и берендейки.
