English: Photo from the exhibition "The crafts of the Palace - Created over 200 years" at the The Queen Sonja Art Stable by the Royal Palace in Oslo, Norway:
  • Full dress uniform (gala dress, parade uniform) for an admiral in the The Royal Norwegian Navy tailored for then Crown Prince Olav of Norway in 1939
    • Double-breasted jacket (coatee) with gilded buttons with crowned anchor emblem, epaulettes (shoulder boards with three stars as rank insignia and fringes), decorative embroideries on the stand-up collar and cuffs (sleeve turn-ups)
    • Bicorne (two-pointed, "two-corned" cocked hat) with golden galloons, a tri-colour national cockade, and black ostrich feathers
    • Shiny black patent leather shoes
    • Ceremonial parade belt with golden buckle and sword hanger.
The uniform is displayed with a belt for an admiral in the British Royal Navy, borrowed from King Haakon VII's uniform from around 1905. The 19th-century-styled full dress uniform belt is adorned with oak leaf embroideries. The emblem on the gilt belt buckle depicts a surrounded and crowned anchor symbol. At the back, there is a hanger or belt for a sword. It is unlikely that the Norwegian uniform and the British belt have been worn together.
  • The uniform was worn, among other occasions, by Crown Prince Olav at the funeral of Crown Princess Märtha in 1953 and and by King Olav V at the funeral of King Haakon VII in 1957.

The museum's description:

Men's tailor; Galla uniform
This uniform was tailor-made for then Crown Prince Olav in 1939 at the Herman Mehren haberdashery store in Oslo. It is the naval gala uniform, a type of uniform that is used for parades and other formal occasions. The uniform was worn by King Olav during Crown Princess Märtha's funeral in 1954 and King Haakon VII's funeral in 1957.
It is made of black wool. The jacket is double- breasted with gold buttons, it has embroidered gold galloons and there are loops on the left side for distinctions and decorations. The corresponding belt is not only decorative, but also serves an important function because the sword is worn on the left side. The bicorne is also an important part of the uniform. It is made of fur and decorated with ostrich feathers on top, giving the uniform a ceremonial character. The bicorne was handmade and sewn by the Ulness Hattefabrikk in Oslo especially for Herman Mehren.

Uniformen er utstilt med et uniformsbelte for en admiral i Royal Navy (den britiske kongelige marine), lånt fra kong Haakon VIIs uniform fra omkring 1905. Gallabeltet i uforming fra 1800-tallet er dekorert med eikeløvsbroderier. Merket på den forgylte beltespenna viser et omkranset og bekronet anker-symbol. Bak er geheng eller belte for sabel/kårde. Det er lite sannsynlig at den norske uniformen og det britiske beltet har blitt båret sammen.
  • Uniformen ble blant annet båret av kronprins Olav ved kronprinsesse Märthas begravelse i 1953 og av kong Olav V i faren kong Haakons begravelse i 1957.

Herreskredder; Gallauniform, 1939, Herman Mehren
Uniformen er skreddersydd til daværende Kronprins Olav i 1939 hos Herman Mehren herreekviperingsforretning i Oslo. Dette er marinens gallauniform, som er en uniformstype som blir brukt til parader og andre høytidelige anledninger. Uniformen ble blant annet båret av Kong Olav under Kronprinsesse Märthas begravelse i 1954 og i Kong Haakon VIIs begravelse i 1957.
Uniformen er i sort ull. Jakken er dobbeltspent med gullknapper, den har broderte gullgaloner, og på jakkens venstre side er det montert på hemper til ordener og dekorasjoner. Det tilhørende beltet er ikke bare dekorativt, men har også en viktig funksjon da sabelen monteres på venstre side. Snutehatten utgjør også en viktig del av uniformen. Den er i pels og dekorert med strutsefjær på toppen, noe som er med på å gi uniformen et høytidelig preg. Snutehatten er håndlaget og sydd for hånd av Ulness Hattefabrikk i Oslo spesielt for Herman Mehren.
