Description
Dansk: Illustration af Poul Steffensen til Carit Etlars roman Dronningens Vagtmester, der foregår under den Anden Karl Gustav-krig i 1658-1660. Gøngehøvdingen Svend Poulsen og hans gønger har været på Gjorslev Slot for at befri Ib Abelsøn. Her brød der en kamp ud, men takket være hønsedrengen Palle vandt gøngerne. Gøngerne tager væk sammen med herskabet, som længe har villet flygte. Ib Abelsøn og Palle rider væk som de sidste, men en svensk skildvagt, som gøngerne ikke fik fanget, skyder efter dem. Palle bliver ramt og indser, at han er dødsens. Han klamrer sig til Ib Abelsøn og beder ham om at bede en bøn for ham, mens han snakker om den lovede trompet, som han nu ikke kommer til at blæse i.
English: Illustration by Poul Steffensen from the Danish novel Dronningens Vagtmester by Carit Etlar which takes place during the Dano-Swedish War in 1658-1660. Svend Poulsen, Gøngehøvdingen, and his gønger has been at the Gjorslev Castle to free Ib Abelsøn. A fight broke out but thanks to the chicken boy Palle the gønger won. The gønger takes away together with the noble people who has wanted to flee for a long time. Ib Abelsøn and Palle rides as the last ones but a Swedish guard whom the gønger didn't captured shoots after them. Palle is hit and realises that he is going to die. He clings to Ib Abelsøn and asks him to beg for him while talking about the promised trumpet he won't get to blow now.
