Deutsch: Der Innenhafen in Duisburg, der ca. 89 ha groß ist, war während der Hochkonjunktur der Industriellen Revolution über ein Jahrhundert lang der zentrale Hafen- und Handelsplatz der Ruhrgebietsstadt. Seit Mitte der 1960er Jahre verlor der Hafen an Bedeutung und lag 20 Jahre lang brach, ehe am Innenhafen ein Strukturwandel einsetzte. Das zur Internationalen Bauausstellung Emscher Park (IBA), die 1989 bis 1999 stattfand, gehörende ehemalige Industriegebiet hat sich grundlegend gewandelt.
Die Basis für dieses Musterbeispiel für den Strukturwandel im Ruhrgebiet lieferte 1994 der britische Architekt Norman Foster. Mittlerweile hat sich der Innenhafen zu einem Ort entwickelt, der Arbeiten, Wohnen, Kultur und Freizeit am Wasser verbindet. Heute ist der Innenhafen ein Industriedenkmal und Ankerpunkt auf der Route der Industriekultur. Im neu gestalteten Quartier des Innenhafens sind verschiedene Museen angesiedelt wie die von Herzog & de Meuron zum Kunstmuseum umgestaltete Küppersmühle, die Werhahnmühle, die nach dem Auszug des Kindermuseums ATLANTIS zunächst durch ein Legoland Discovery Center und heute vom Explorado Kindermuseum genutzt wird und das Kultur- und Stadthistorische Museum. Dani Karavan legte den »Garten der Erinnerung« an, in dem der Architekt Zvi Hecker das Gemeindezentrum und die Synagoge der Jüdischen Gemeinde Duisburg-Mülheim/Ruhr-Oberhausen aufbaute. Vom Garten führt die Buckelbrücke für Fußgänger hinüber zur Marina und den Bürokomplexen »Five Boats« und »Hitachi Power Office«. Weitere renovierte Speichergebäude und Neubauten werden als Büro-, Kontor- und Parkhäuser, von öffentlichen Einrichtungen sowie von Gastronomie- und Freizeitbetrieben genutzt. (Text: Wikipedia) |
