Description
Interlingua: Il Duomo di Modena è la principale chiesa di Modena ed è situato in Centro Storico, su Corso Duomo.

Venne realizzato come casa di San Geminiano, Patrono di Modena. Il 9 giugno 1099 venne posata la prima pietra del Duomo, un esempio di arte romanica.

Il clero e la cittadinanza modenesi affidarono l’incarico di progettare la Cattedrale a Lanfranco, il quale diede vita a un’architettura nuova, che costituì un modello per l’arte romanica fiorita dopo di lui. Per il rivestimento lapideo dell’edificio fu utilizzato materiale di reimpiego proveniente da Mutina romana.
