Summary[edit]

Description
English: Portrait of Olga Galea Naudi, seated on an armchair, wearing a floral dress, and touching the long pearl neclace she is wearing around her neck. She is wearing bright red lipstick on her smiling lips, and gold earrings. Olga Galea Naudi was born in Senglea, daughter of Michael Barbora and Louisa Victoria nee Gilbert Murray. She was the beautiful, blonde wife of an ex- military man, Carlo Galea Naudi, a lawyer and a long acquaintance of the painter Edward Caruana Dingli. It is known that the painter broke up with his wife Charlotte Marietta Giovanna Falzon (1880- 1960) in around 1913, around thirteen years after they married. His wife and sons moved out to an other residence in Sliema, while the painter lived in a humble apartment in Valletta. This was the beginning of a new chapter in the artist`s life. He left the Maltese Militia and decided to dedicate his life to art. He reputedly had a scandalous relationship with the blonde chirpy Olga, which he never gave up. From 1913 onwards, the artist built up and intensive and fruitful career and eventually became the most prominent sought after portrait painter of his time in Malta. Today there are various portraits of Olga painted by the artist found hanging in private and public collections around Malta and abroad.
