Description
English: A U.S. Navy Douglas EKA-3B Skywarrior (BuNo 147663) of airborne early warning squadron VAW-13 Det. 66 Zappers, Carrier Air Wing Six (CVW-6), is launched from the aircraft carrier USS America (CVA-66) off Norfolk, Virginia (USA), on 10 January 1968. The America had just completed a Selected Restricted Availability (SRA) at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard from 6 October 1967 to 8 January 1968. The next aircraft to be launched is a North American RA-5C Vigilante (BuNo 149291) of heavy reconnaissance squadron RVAH-13 Bats. This aircraft was originally delivered as an A-5A nuclear bomber and converted to an RA-5C. It was retired to the MASDC as 4A0008 on 15 October 1970.
