Hurricanes and tropical cyclones

A El Niño and La Niña can effect tropical cyclones in the Atlantic and Pacific in different influences.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: In the Atlantic ocean, a El Niño typically brings strong wind shear, cooler ocean temperatures, strong trade winds, and greater atmospheric stability, these environmental conditions are unfavorable for tropical cyclones to occur. However in the Pacific Ocean, tropical cyclone activity increases, due to low wind shear, warmer ocean temperatures, and less atmospheric stability, these environmental conditions are favorable for tropical cyclones to occur. In the Atlantic Ocean, a La Niña typically brings low wind shear, warmer ocean temperatures, weak trade winds, and less atmospheric stability, these environmental conditions are favorable for tropical cyclones to occur. However in the Pacific Ocean, tropical cyclone activity decreases due to strong wind shear, cooler ocean temperatures, and greater atmospheric stability, these environmental conditions are unfavorable for tropical cyclones to occur.
