English: Blazing Fast Relief
Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) teams may be one of most important parts of wildfires that you’ve probably never heard of. As the last flames of a raging fire are being contained, these BAER crews begin safeguarding lives, property, and natural resources threatened by additional perils that fires create. Now, a NASA tool is helping teams quickly integrate data from various satellites, like Suomi NPP, Terra, and Landsat, so BAER teams can focus their time on wildfire recovery and rehabilitation. NASA Earth Science’s Applied Sciences Program promotes efforts to discover and demonstrate innovative and practical uses of Earth science data and knowledge. We support applied research and applications projects that enable ways for organizations to apply data from Earth-observing environmental satellites to inform their decisions and actions. Blazing Fast Relief is just one of many project highlights in the 2016 Applied Sciences Annual Report now available here: appliedsciences.nasa.gov/ |
