עברית: תיאור סכמטי של התהליך הגורם להתפתחות רוחב המדרגות בגרם, כאשר הצטרפות האדאטומים לשפות המדרגות אינה סימטרית. בפנל השמאלי יש העדפה להצטרפות לשפת המדרגה "העולה" (מחסום ארליך-שוובל "רגיל"): המדרגות שמימין לאזור ההפרעה (שבו מדרגות צרות וצפופות) נעות מהר יותר מאשר אלו שמשמאלו, ורוחבי המדרגות בהפרעה נוטים להשתוות אלו לאלו. בפנל הימני יש העדפה להצטרפות לשפת המדרגה "היורדת" (מחסום ארליך-שוובל "הפוך"): המדרגות שמשמאל לאזור ההפרעה נעות מהר יותר מאשר אלו שמימינו, וההפרעה (התקבצות המדרגות) מתגברת. הקו הכהה מציין את גרם המדרגות לפני הגידול, והאדום – אחריו. החיצים האופקיים הסגולים מציינים את המהירות של כל שפת מדרגה. |
