[edit]
Description
English: One of pictures taken approaching and crossing the first bridge across one of two rivers, this one being the Tunca, at the southwest of town. Built in 1607-1612 by Defterdar (= top official in charge of the state finances) Ekmekcioğlu Ahmet Paşa, who was governor of Edirne at the time. The architect was Sedefkâr Mehmet Ağa. Date, commissioner and architect are mentioned on the ‘kitabe’ (building inscription) placed in the kiosk-like structure in the middle of the bridge.
