Description
Français : Détail du moulage d'une empreinte de peau d'un Edmontosaurus annectens, un dinosaure appartenant à la famille des hadrosauridés.

Lieu de découverte : comté de Niobrara, au Wyoming, aux Etats-Unis.

Datation : l'animal a vécu au Crétacé supérieur, pendant le Maastrichien, il y a 67 millions d'années.

Exposé à l'occasion de l'exposition "Un T-Rex à Paris" au Muséum national d'histoire naturelle de Paris (France) du 6 juin au 2 septembre 2018.

Légende de l'objet dans cette exposition : "La peau de plusieurs spécimens d'Edmontosaurus a été conservée sous forme d'impressions dans le sédiment. On sait ainsi que ces hadrosaures avaient une peau relativement peu épaisse, composée de petites écailles qui ne se chevauchaient pas. Aucune structure ressemblant à des plumes n'est visible, contrairement à ce qu'on observe chez certains dinosaures carnivores."
