Description
English: Little Egret Egretta garzetta, Serbia
Српски / srpski: D.t. 55–65 cm. Naseljava južnu Evropu, kaspijski i aralski basen, deo Afrike, južne Azije i Australije. U 20. veku naselila je delove Američkog kontinenta. Severne populacije migriraju. Nastanjuje ravničarska vodena staništa, često oko velikih reka (vlažne livade, bare, mrtvaje, ribnjaci i dr). Gnezdi se kolonijalno, u trsci, priobalnom žbunju ili drveću, najčešće sa drugim vrstama čaplji. Hrani se različitim vodenim životinjama (ribe, vodozemci, beskičmenjaci). Ugrožava je nestanak odgovarajućih vodenih staništa (pre svega vlažnih livada i sličnih plitkih akvatorija). Evropska populacija je u blagom porastu, što je slučaj i u Srbiji gde se gnezdi 950–1.200 parova, uglavnom u Vojvodini (Puzović et al 2009). Autor: Radišić Dimitrije
