Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The "Ejder Stone", borderstone from the South Gate of Rendsborg/Rendsburg, Schleswig, a city located on the River Ejder. Now in Tøjhusmuseet in Copenhagen. Inscription: EIDORA ROMANI TERMINUS IMPERII ("The Ejder is the border of the [Holy] Roman Empire"). The stone indicates that "Germany ends here" (located where one would have expected a "Denmark begins here"-marker). The stone was removed in 1806 when Holstein was (briefly) annexed completely into Denmark, after Napoleon's dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire. The Duchy of Holstein was recreated in 1815.
