Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Granite outcrop on the Tagus River bed, upstream the Archbishop's bridge. El Puente del Arzobispo, Toledo, Castile-La Mancha, Spain This small rock formation is not included in the geological map at a scale of 1:50,000, but it was decisive in the creation of the bridge and, therefore, of the locality itself. Right at this point and due to the lithology, the river dugs a small gorge that allowed to cross the main branch of the river with a single span. On the other hand, it is a formidable seating ground and provides stone in situ. Kilometers upstream and downstream it's all alluvial plain and tertiary sands
