Description
English: Born in Harar town in 1936, Emebethoy Atsede was the daughter of Lij Tadesse Gebrehiwot Mikael and Woyzero Mengiste Abbadula Abbajifar (King Abbajifar of Jimma); she had two sisters. Her father was close relative of Emperor Haile-Selassie and Empress Menen since he was the son of Ras Gebrehiwot Mikael (eldest son of Negus Mikael of Wollo]) and Emebehoy Banchiwedya Abeto (granddaughter of Negus Sahle-Selassie of Showa). Emebethoy Atsede was thus born into the highest levels of Ethiopian society and was a member of the extended Imperial Dynasty. She had four daughters (Woyzero Rula, Woyzero Athena, Woyzero Matina, Woyzero Ioanna) from her first marriage with Mr. George Papachatzis; and from her second husband Ato Ayele Gizaw Kinfe one son Lij Haile-Gebrel. Embethoy Atsede passed away in Addis Ababa in 1989 due to complicated health conditions.
