Summary[edit]

Description The evil one: an Emerald Tree Python. First time I'm seeing one live. This is a smallish specimen, probably a juveline. The green and white gives these creatures perfect camouflage as they lie about coiled up around branches in thick foliage. They apparently strike at flying birds or take small mammals as prey. Emerald Tree Pythons are not poisonous, rather, they are constrictors, meaning they constrict, or squeeze their prey to death. Like the anaconda, Emerald Tree Pythons are largely natives of South America, and live in the Amazon rainforests. Jan/ Feb. 2012.
