| Description |
English: This is one of my first images using Fuji's first digital camera (2000). If you zoo in, you will see a camper's tent for scale.
The feeling I had while viewing this majestic cloud covered canyon was one of awe and power. I didn't know why. We were later told that when a king died, a tribal member volunteered to hide the king's cremated remains within the canyon, where they would be safe. The volunteer was held by the feet by a rope and lowered into the canyon. There he gently placed each fragment of the king's ashes into crevices in the rock. When he was finished, he signaled the men holding the rope. The rope was released and the man fell to his death, allowing him to remain in the canyon of the kings throughout eternity. |
