Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Old Fort stands on Stone Town's sea front, Mizingani Road, Adjacent to the House of Wonders. It claims a unique place in Zanzibar's history as the old building recorded, being built in 1652. The fort is essentially a square of high, brown walls with merlons, protecting an inner courtyard. In the courtyard there are some remnants of earlier buildings, including those of a Portuguese church and another Omani fortification.
