Description

Épernay (Marne)

Église Notre-Dame.

Eglise paroissiale construite de 1898 à 1907 par Paul Selmersheim, architecte des Monuments historiques, à l'emplacement de l'ancien hospice. La première pierre de cette église est posée le 19 mai 1888.

Erigée à l'emplacement du couvent des Ursulines, cette église succède à celle qui se trouvait jadis place Hugues Plomb dont il ne reste plus que le portail Saint-Martin.

Bombardée par les allemands, en 1918, elle est restaurée par son fils également architecte, Antoine Selmersheim de 1922 à 1925. L'église sera consacrée par l'évêque de Châlons-en-Champagne le 13 avril 1925.

Le clocher possède une cloche datant de 1491, provenant de l'ancienne église Saint Martin.
