| Description |
English: The emblem of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas, photographed in the conference room of the diocesan offices.
The escutcheon (shield) contains 4 red squares surrounding a gold cross: the upper right square (from the perspective of one carrying the shield) contains the "Lone Star" of Texas, the top left are the keys of St. Peter, the traditional symbol of a bishop. On the smaller central shield is a walking lion with his right paw on a fleur-de-lis, these are taken from the paternal arms of the Rt.Rev. Alexander Charles Garrett, 1st Episcopal Bishop of Dallas. The motto, 'Sub Cruce Veritas' [Truth under the Cross], is beneath the shield. A miter (bishop's hat) rests atop the shield. |
