El epitelio olfativo pseudoestratificado se compone principalmente de células de soporte, neuronas sensoriales olfativas y células basales. Las neuronas sensoriales olfativas maduras e inmaduras son neuronas bipolares con un solo proceso dendrítico que se proyecta hacia la superficie apical del epitelio. The pseudostratified olfactory epithelium is composed mainly of supporting cells, olfactory sensory neurons and basal cells. The supporting cells have columnar cell bodies, microvilli on the apical side and reside in the most apical region of the epithelium. Mature and immature olfactory sensory neurons are bipolar neurons with a single dendritic process projecting to the apical surface of the epithelium. In mature olfactory sensory neurons, several cilia protrude from the dendritic knob. Two types of basal cells reside near the basal lamina: horizontal basal cells (HBCs) that are attached to the basal lamina and globose basal cells (GBCs) that lie above the HBC layer. |
