Summary
[edit]DescriptionErpfquelle Karstquelle Schwaebische-Alb.jpg |
English: Protected Geotope and Natural monument “Molkenquelle/Brechlöchle“, a karst spring of rivulet Erpf, Swabian Alb. This spring and another two southwest of the village Erpfingen feed the rivulet, which flows into the upper Lauchert. In Pliocene-Pleistocene a much longer Ur-Erpf had its catchments further north, east of Undingen (Sonnenbühl). Since then the karst water table dropped drastically. A minor drop of the contemporary water table can very well be observed around the Molkenquelle/Brechlöchle: 3m above the visible water level of the lake are several tiny scores which become running karst springs, whenever precipitation is exceptionally high. Even the stoned vault in the back isn’t the main water spill anymore. Larger quantities rather emerge from underneath the drain cover. |
