| Description |
Español: Con motivo de la celebración del Quinto Aniversario del Descubrimiento de Puerto Rico en el año 1993, el municipio de Aguada le encomendó al escultor Luis Heriberto Vega, la confección de una estatua diferente de las que se han hecho del almirante genovés Cristóbal Colón.
Luego de varios diseños y modificaciones, se llegó al acuerdo que la estatua tendría en unas de sus manos una vasija indígena de la que emanaría del nombre de Aguada que significa dar agua, además que integra el elemento indígena en la obra. La estatua mide unos siete pies de estatura y pesa aproximadamente 18 quintales (1,800 lb.) y la misma descansa sobre una piedra. La estatua de Cristóbal Colón esta ubicada en la Plaza de Recreo de Aguada, que lleva su mismo nombre. Información sobre Aguada en www.enlaceapuertorico.com. |
