| Description |
English: Due to Kent being Tier 3 for Covid-19 restrictions, whilst Sussex is only in Tier 2 (less restrictive) the 2020 Santa Specials operating on the Spa Valley Railway have to start from Eridge (In Sussex) rather than Tunbridge Wells West (in Kent) and laughably have to stop short of the River Groom bridge which marks the County boundary, just north of High Rocks Halt. This requires top-and-tail working with the line's resident Southern Region Electro-diesel on the rerar and the hired-in GWR Pannier tank leading uphill from Eridge. After a quick turnaround at High Rocks, the train then returns to Eridge. Here the 3.00pm departure from Eridge reaches the limit of operation on an overcast and rather dull Saturday 5th December 2020. |
