Summary[edit]
DescriptionEx-Lee and Katia Sept 6 2011 1545Z.jpg |
English: On 6 September 2011 Lee was a post-tropical cyclone which has been absorbed by a frontal system across the southeastern United States. That day, the low center was expected to move northward into the southern Appalachians. As this tropical moisture crossed the frontal boundary it was lifted, resulting in extremely heavy rainfall in locations well in advance of the circulation center.
Meanwhile Hurricane Katia has gone through a classic eyewall replacement cycle and in this stadium there has been little change in the track forecast. Katia was expected to make a turn to the northwest and north over the next 2 days. Katia was expected to remain a powerful storm as it transitions to extratropical status over the north Atlantic Ocean. In the left lower corner of the image, over the Bay of Campeche, is lingering the system which eventually would spawn Nate. This image was taken by GOES East at 1545Z on September 6, 2011.
Deutsch: Am 6.
