Description
English: View south across the platforms of Alnwick Lionheart station on the Aln Valley Railway. Ex-Northern Trains Class 144 "Pacer" 144004 stands platform 1 (far side of the tracks), waiting to depart on a round-trip to Greenrigg Halt (though, at the time of visit, this latter station was still under construction). This is one of two BR Class 144 preserved at the Aln Valley Railway after their withdrawal from main line service in 2020.
Beyond it, to the right, can be seen BR Mark 1 coaches stabled close to the buffer stops. To the left can be seen Lionheart locomotive shed, water tower and coal store. The portacabins visible in the centre background (behind the pacer) are used as a ticket office (right) and café (left).
