CAPILLA ABIERTA En este lugar donde se oficiaban misas a los indígenas inconversos; se encuentran magníficos labrados y decorados ostentosos, reflejo del arte románico y gótico. Destacan las figurillas de ángeles, diablos, querubines, canastos, ramos de flores, follajes, guirnaldas y racimos de uvas que en su concepción denotan la fuerte influencia indígena. Estos elementos han sido reconocidos como una obra maestra de la arquitectura virreinal del siglo XVI.

es un interesante ejemplo de lo que se ha dado en llamar arte tequitqui (del náhuatl, “vasallo”), término que hace referencia a obras, principalmente escultóricas, de tema cristiano talladas por artesanos indígenas.
