Summary

Description

Letter of complaint from an eletricity supply utility, complaining that a customer had had equipment mis-connected to their supply. This was significant on two counts: they were being mis-charged at a lower (heating) rate for the use (lighting) they were making of it. Also UK electricity supply companies have always been fiercely protective of their connections and meter seals.

This letter was written during wartime. The Registered Office address of :

14-20 King William St
London EC4

has been changed to a Wokingham (i.e. outside London) address. King William St had been damaged by bombing on 11th September 1940, presumably causing the company's offices to be relocated. Flickr has some period photographs:
