Description
Deutsch: Einer von 186 sogenannten Fürstensteinen, die im Anschluss an die im Zisterzienserkloster Mariengarden in Burlo getroffene Burloer Konvention vom 19. Oktober 1766 zwischen Vreden (am Grenzpunkt vom Fürstbistum Münster mit den niederländischen Provinzen Geldern und Overijssel) und Dinxperlo/Suderwick (bis zur Rietstapper Brücke an der Grenze zur Herrschaft Anholt) gesetzt wurden. Die in Bentheim beim Steinhauer Wender Ackerstaff bestellten Steine aus Sandstein tragen auf der niederländischen Seite neben der Jahreszahl 1766 das geldrische Löwenwappen. Die deutsche Seite ziert das münsterische Bistumswappen. Die Staatsgrenze ist in dem Gebiet seit dem Frieden von Venlo 1543 nahezu unverändert geblieben.
Der abgebildete Stein mit der Nummer 126 (766 O nach preußischer Zählung) steht im Moorgebiet, das auf westfälischer Seite Burlo-Vardingholter Venn und im Achterhoek Wooldse Veen gennant wird. Er befindet sich unweit der Aussichtskanzel an der Staatsgrenze, die allerdings nur von niederländischer Seite zugänglich ist. Der Stein wurde - wie etliche andere auch - auf einen mit einer Eisenplatte geschützten, gemauerten Sockel gesetzt, nachdem er im morastigen Boden zu versinken drohte. Auf dem Stein befinden sich noch Reste einer Farbschmiererei, die von einem unbekannten Vandalen angebracht worden ist.
