Summary

[edit]
Description

An U.S. Marine Corps McDonnell Douglas F/A-18C Hornet of Marine fighter-bomber squadron VMFA-232 Red Devils taxies on the runway at Shaik Isa Air Base, Bahrain, before takeoff for a mission in support of "Operation Desert Storm". It is armed with AIM-9L Sidewinder and AGM-88 HARM missiles.

Note: The caption identifies the location as "Andrews AFB, Maryland (USA)" (note desert in the background!) and the date with "21 May 1992". VMFA-232 returned home to MCAS Kaneohe Bay already on 21 April 1991.
