Summary[edit]

Description Official description: Douglas F3D-2 Skynight: A jet-powered two seat night fighter, this Douglas F3D-2 Skynight was flown for two years by the NACA at Langley. One of the tests performed was concerning control of an aircraft during an intercept mission.
Date 12 June 1953 - Note: NASA gives 1963 as the date, but since 1957 the U.S. Navy switched to a grey/white colour scheme. Also the F3D was long out of production then.
