Summary
[edit]DescriptionFairmount Avenue, South Fairmount, Cincinnati, OH (27227567917).jpg | The Knox Hill section of South Fairmount in Cincinnati is home to many houses and apartments built between the 1840s and the 1960s, quite a large span of time when compared to most neighborhoods in the city. These houses date to the middle of that time period, being constructed around the turn of the 20th Century. Today, though the South Fairmount neighborhood as a whole is in rather rough shape after decades of disinvestment, neglect, and low desirability, the hilltop ridge around Harrison Avenue and Fairmount Avenue remains a working-class enclave and slightly better off than the neighborhoods in the valleys to the north and south. Though the historic district nomination fell through many years ago, it is a somewhat historically significant location for the diversity of the buildings and the unique story behind how the area came to be developed. |
