Français : Les tableaux de cette série forment la synthèse la plus complète de l’art de Gherardo Poli et apparaissent comme ses chefs-d’oeuvre. Les fantaisies de format rectangulaire, où l’architecture démesurément grande se développe toute en hauteur, créent un effet très particulier de disproportion par rapport aux petits personnages. Le traitement des ruines, délice d’invention, forme un mélange de réminiscences antiques et maniéristes, de décors rocaille de volutes, de coquillages, et de cartouches. |
