| Description |
English: In 1542, the Portuguese abandoned Safi and Azzemour to settle in Mazagan. They create the harbor and stayed there almost 300 years.at 1956 the city and port changed their name to El Jadida. At that time, Mazagan played a pivotal role in the consolidation of Portugal's commercial bases on the Atlantic coast of Morocco. This port was responsible for the export of the Doukkala region. |
