| Description |
English: Newly installed fare gates greet travellers along the NFTA Metro Rail in Buffalo, New York immediately upon descending to the subterranean level of the Allen/Medical Campus Station. Though plans to replace the notoriously widely abused, turnstile-less ticket inspector system had been in the works since 2014, it was not until early 2022 that the long-promised fare gates were finally installed in the Metro Rail's eight underground stations (i.e. excluding those in the downtown Free Fare Zone). As of December 2022, when this photograph was taken, the gates were still in "testing mode": pending the deployment of the new ticket vending system, also long in the works, they are powered down and open automatically to allow passengers to pass through. |
