Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Farrell-Minsterman House, 138 Heath Street, Buffalo, New York, January 2021. Jerkinhead roofs - those with a hipped slope or "clip" in the peak of their gable - are relatively common sights on Arts & Crafts-style dwellings, particularly those built late in that style's era of popularity, and the Farrell-Minsterman House is a good representative example of the phenomenon. Note also the large knee-brace brackets supporting the widely overhanging eaves below said gable, also typical of the style. The house was built in 1925 and is first recorded as being the home of Ethel Farrell (1897-1988), the young widow of railroad clerk-turned-accountant Roy Farrell (1895-1925) and herself a retail clerk, but two years later she sold the property to Buffalo Police patrolman August Minsterman (1901-1989), in whose family the property remained until 1990.
