Description
Français : Farud et sa mère Jarireh gisant sur le trône ; page d’un Livre des rois (Shahnameh) - Iran, Chiraz (?) - vers 1571 - Encre, pigments et or sur papier - Louvre - MAO 2275/2 Recto. Le cartel indique : Le Livre des Rois est une épopée en langue persane de plus de 50 000 distiques (couples de vers). Composée par le poète Ferdowsi aux alentours de l’an mille, elle embrasse l’histoire de l’Iran de la création du monde à la chute de la dynastie sassanide, au 7e siècle de notre ère. Les plus anciennes copies illustrées remontent au 14e siècle. Cette page ainsi que MAO 2276 et MAO 2280 proviennent d’un même volume aujourd’hui démembré.
