Im Feldquartier am 22. Juni 1941
Liebe Eltern
Wenn Ihr diesen Brief erhaltet wisst ihr ja schon die Neuigkeit.
Also heute ist der große Tag. Heute um 3.15 h früh eröffnete die deutsche Artillerie das Feuer. Uns wurde es gestern um 18.00 h bekannt gegeben. Wir waren natürlich alle unruhig diese Nacht. Und dann kam die Zeit heran. Pünktlich um 3.15 fiel der erste Kanonenschuß. Kaum das [sic] dieser gefallen war, setzte ein gedonner [sic] und gekrache [sic] ein wie wir es noch nicht erlebt haben. Jetzt ist es 5.00 h. Vereinzelt schießt die Artillerie auf die Flieger-
tätigkeit hat zugenommen. Ich liege mit meinen Kameraden in einem Wald in der nähe der Grenze. Allso [sic] nicht in der Feuerlinie, macht Euch also keinen Kummer.
Ich muß immer daran denken was wohl die Heimat heute früh sagen wird wenn alles bekanntgegeben wird. Wir warten schon bis es 6.00 h wird wegen den Nachrichten. Sicher wird wieder Dr. Göbbels sprechen.
Ich werde Euch so oft schreiben als es geht und und nochmals bitte sorgt Euch nicht um mich. Bis jetzt ist noch gar kein Grund.
