Im Felde, d. 7.IX.43.
Mein geliebtes Muttl!
Heute war für mich ein ganz großer Freudentag den Heute kam die erste Post von Dir, die Karte von 27.8. u. der Brief vom 29.8. ich habe mich sehr gefreut. Meine Post von der alten Feldpostnummer hast Du ja sicher erhalten? Wir haben in der Zeit schon oft die Stellung gewechselt und sind marschiert. Gestern Abend kamen wir aus der Kampfstellung raus in Reserve wie lang es dauert weiß niemand. Habe mich Heute nach langer Zeit wieder gewaschen u. rasiert es ist eine Wohltat. Nach 3 Wochen konnten wir wieder die Stiefel ausziehen nun können wir auch mehr schlafen. Haben einen schweren Waldkampf hinter uns, lagen jetzt in einen Dorf die Häuser haben wir alle abgebrannt. Der Russe kam mit Panzer, kam aber nicht durch nun hatt er sich wieder beruhigt. Ich bin froh daß ich wieder bei meiner alten Kompanie bin wenn auch viele fallen. Mir geht es soweit ganz gut und bin gesund. Das Wetter ist nun wieder besser. Wegen der Kälte brauchst Du Dich nicht sorgen habe schon lange wieder eine Decke. Wir sind jetzt immer im Freien u. schlafen in Löcher da kommen Laken drüber und Stroh hinein da ist es dann ganz schön warm. Mach Dir bitte nicht zu große Sorgen es wird noch alles gut. Wir wollen unseren Herrgott bitten daß er uns gesund erhällt und daß dieser furchtbare Krieg bald ein [Ende hatt.]
