Summary[edit]

Description Built as a 512 S and raced in North America, this car was purchased by Roger Penske in late 1970 and updated in California to the newer 512 M specifications. Painted blue, sponsored by Sunoco and driven by Mark Donohue and David Hobbes, the 512 contested five major races in 1971, including the 24 Hours of LeMans. It was usually the fastest car and usually led, but accidents and misfortune prevented it from ever taking a win.
